(Translation: This is a track from the Mezzanine era, but only now seeing the light of day on the two-disc edition of Collected, Massive Attack's greatest hits compilation. It features Elizabeth "Nell" Fraser singing over a taut, spring-loaded drum beat, what sounds like an oboe, and an icy, lonely piano, for maximum triphop effect. And she's singing, apparently, in a made-up language. If she can do it, I don't see why I can't.)

  • You are hilarious with that Nell reference. I tittered over this for a minute or two.

Do you know "Rilkean Heart" by Cocteau Twins? If not GET it or email me.

  • The "Nell" reference is a bit mean...but hilarious indeed! My Favourite Liz Fraser track is "Song To The Siren".

  • You guys, I love so Nell so much, I can't even tell you. I only have to think of certain scenes from the film in order to be convulsed with inappropriate laughter. Like when Liam gets naked and joins her swimming, and she has a gander at his, um, presumably huge gander, and she basically swims away screaming to Natasha. Or: "Titties! Titties!" Sheer genius. Someday I hope to stage a musical version of Nell on Broadway.

Ahem. Anyway. I know "Rilkean Heart" -- but only in the Chinese cover version by Faye Wong, which is lovely. My gmail wouldn't mind getting hit with the original, xo.

  • Word to the wise (spoken in whisper): Nell was not a real person. It is okay to be mean to her. She does not truly exist.

Maybe your gmail with bump uglies with my own email account. Hang on a few days, I need to dig that up.

  • It's an interesting song but Finnegans Wake sure has a lot to answer for.
